You’ve Got to Choose

Joshua 24:15 NLT
But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord .”

Life is filled with choices. The choices we make determine our immediate and distant future. God created Adam with the unique ability to make choices. There was nothing for Adam to choose between until God instructed him not to eat from a particular tree. Adam had to choose between following God’s instruction, to not eat from the tree, or eat from the tree and die. Adam had to choose to between following God’s instruction and live the amazingly good life God planned and prepared for him, or disobey the instructions. We know the choice Adam made.
The world, as we know it, is the result of Adam’s decision. All the decisions we make are not as detrimental as Adam’s, but we will always serve the choices we make. This is why it is vitally important for us to make a conscious decision to follow the instructions in the word of God. God created us and he knows what we should do and not do to experience the good life now. Joshua gave God’s people a choice: “…choose today whom you will serve.”
We are confronted every day with this Choice. When the temptation comes to do something against the instructions of God, let’s choose to follow God. If you are attacked by the enemy in your health or finances, let’s choose to believe God’s instructions. You are created by God to win in life. You always win when you choose to obey God’s instructions.

Prayer – Father, I choose to follow your instructions. I am committed to obeying you. I pray for you to strengthen me by the Holy Spirit to stand and do your word in every situation. In Jesus name, amen!
