Who Are You Listening To?

Psalm 1:1-2 NLT
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.

It is amazing how the Holy Spirit gives the psalmist, in this first Psalms, instructions on how to be blessed. In the New Covenant we are blessed because of our faith in Jesus, but I believe the Psalmist gives us instructions for making the blessings a reality. The blessings of God will not automatically show up. We have a part to play in the blessings becoming a reality in our lives. Notice, the Psalmist says that people who don’t follow the advice of the wicked, stand around with Sinners, or join in with those who mock God are blessed. In other words, the psalmist is saying: who you are listening to matters. The people we are around the most are either communicating positive Godly words that will build us up, or negatives destructive words that will tare us down. Who are you listening to? You are created by the almighty God to win in life. God has blessed you in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3), but you must guard your ear-gate. You must position yourself to hear words that will build faith in God in your heart. Every day you must saturate your mind with the good news about Jesus Christ. You win, when you work the word!

Prayer – Father, I thank you for blessing me instructing me in your word. I purpose to not listen to ungodly communication that will destroy my confidence in you. Amen!
