Sleeping with Lions

Daniel 6:16, 19 – 23 NLT
So at last the king gave orders for Daniel to be arrested and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to him, “May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you.” 19 Very early the next morning, the king got up and hurried out to the lions’ den. 20 When he got there, he called out in anguish, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?” 21 Daniel answered, “Long live the king! 22 My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.” 23 The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God.

Daniel was thrown into the Lion’s Den because he refused to obey an ordinance forbidding him to pray to his God. Daniel was so committed to God he was willing to suffer the punishment for disobeying the law given by the king, therefore, the king had him thrown in the Lion’s Den. The story continues with the King rising early to go to check on the condition of Daniel (this is not usual for a King). To the King’s amazement and joy, Daniel, after sleeping all night with hungry Lions, was alive. In fact, there was not a scratch on him. The Lions had become Lambs by the grace of the almighty God. They had become pillows for David to sleep on. What the enemy intended to use to destroy Daniel, had become ineffective. Once again, God demonstrated the devil is powerless against his people when they walk in the light of his word.

You may be experiencing a very difficult challenge, you may not know how you can get out of the situation. My friends, you can learn from Daniel. You can rest even though you may be surrounded by lion-like challenges. You can rest and be confident your Heavenly Father, who is the almighty God, will deliver you. Like Daniel you will shout, “Long live my King, Jesus Christ! He always causes me to win! Hallelujah!”

Prayer – Father, I am committed to you. Regardless of the persecution and challenges, I will worship you. I am confident you will always deliver me out of every situation. I thank you for your goodness and faithfulness to me! In Jesus name, amen!
