Saving Your Soul

James 1:21 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

We are a spirit that have a soul living in a body. When we are born again, or what is commonly called saved, our spirit-man is created anew. We are a new spirit creation, but our soul (mind, will, and emotions) and body are the same. The price for our soul and body to be changed was paid by Jesus on the cross, but we must bring our body under control with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Our soul must be saved by renewing our mind with the Word of God. Notice James says we must receive with meekness the en-grafted (planted) word which has the potential to save our soul. In other words, our souls are not saved and can only be saved by accepting God’s word. We must allow the word of God to frame our thinking. We can be saved spiritually but still think like we did pre-salvation. If we think the same we will speak, feel, and act the same and we will continue receiving the same results in our lives. In fact, unless your soul is saved it will appear as if you are not spiritually saved. Nothing will change outwardly until your soul (mind, will, and emotions) is saved. When we think like the word, we win. Jesus always won because his soul was always in line with God’s Word and will for him. We must spend time meditating on the word everyday to save our soul. The saved soul is a victorious life in Christ Jesus. Be the winner outwardly that you are in your spirit.

Prayer – Father, I thank you for eternal life. I am a new creation and I purpose to meditate on your word everyday to save my soul. With the help of Holy Spirit, I will think right, speak right, and act right. I will receive your best in Jesus name!
