That is how husbands should treat their wives, loving them as parts of themselves. For since a man and his wife are now one, a man is really doing himself a favor and loving himself when he loves his wife! 33 So again I say, a man must love his wife as a part of himself; and the wife must see to it that she deeply respects her husband—obeying, praising, and honoring him.
In this segment of scripture, Apostle Paul gives the conclusion of the matter concerning the key to successful marriage. Husbands must love their wife as a part of himself. This is not a suggestion, but a firm command. In other words, Paul was saying, husbands if you want a successful marriage, you’ve got to love her like you love yourself.
Paul commands all Christian (born again) wives to deeply respect their husband, demonstrated by obeying, praising, and honoring him.
Marriages are being attacked like never before and divorces in the church are escalating, but we can be successful and win in marriage by committing to follow the apostolic instructions given to husbands and wives. I encourage every husband and wife to make a new commitment to follow God’s marriage instructions. Don’t be controlled by your feelings, act on God’s words and the feelings of passion and love will come. Trust God, act on his word, and enjoy a loving Godly marriage life in Christ.
Prayer – Father, I thank you for my spouse. Help me to follow your instructions concerning my spouse. I desire to have a loving, Godly, and Christ-like marriage that will bring glory to you. Help me to be the spouse, based on your word, you desire me to be in Jesus name, amen.
