The Faith of Joseph

Matthew 1:18-24 KJV
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:”

This is the account of the birth of Jesus from Joseph’s perspective. This is an account of an amazing display of faith.  Faith is choosing to believe and act on God’s word. God chose two individuals, Joseph & Mary, to bring about his great plan of salvation for all humanity. This proves that God will only work in the earth through individuals that yield to him and choose to believe his word. This was not easy for Joseph to believe. I am not sure how I would have responded to a dream about my future wife being pregnant and I’m not the Father. Wow! This was not easy to believe that this was a godly dream and to act on the instructions. Joseph had to be a godly man with a heart to please God. It is impossible to please God without Faith. Joseph had probably passed other faith test. He knew the voice of God and was willing to do what God instructed.

Notice, the word of God says when he woke up from the dream, he did as the angel of the Lord instructed. This is an amazing display of Faith in God. Joseph is a great example that we can follow. God, in his word, tells us certain things, or promises, that are hard to grasp with with our minds. The promise of being born again and being a new creation with Christ living in us is not easy to comprehend, but we choose to believe and act on the word, as Joseph did, and we will receive the promised results. God confirmed his word, spoken by angels, to Joseph & Mary. We can be sure he will confirm every word he speaks to us. We will win because we have faith in God. Hallelujah!!

Prayer – Father, I choose to believe your word. I am confident you will confirm your word of Divine Health, Peace, Joy, & Prosperity in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen!!
