7 Days of Scripture-Based Prayers for Your Children

"Teaching the Word to Transform Lives"

These seven prayers are designed to help parents, grandparents, and guardians pray the Word of God over their children. Each day focuses on one biblical promise or principle. Read the Scripture aloud, then pray it personally over your children, calling their names before God.

Day 1

Pray for Their Salvation and Relationship With God

Isaiah 54:13 KJV

"And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for my children. Your Word declares that all my children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be their peace.

I pray that my children will know You personally and not merely know about You. Draw their hearts toward Jesus. Give them a hunger for Your Word, a desire for Your presence, and a heart that is sensitive to Your voice.

Surround them with godly influences, teachers, mentors, and friends who will encourage them to follow You. Protect them from influences that would pull their hearts away from You.

I declare by faith that my children shall be taught of the Lord. They shall know the truth, walk in the truth, and experience the peace that comes from belonging to You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 2

Pray for Their Protection

Psalm 91:11 KJV

"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I place my children into Your loving care.

According to Your Word, I ask You to give Your angels charge over them to keep them in all their ways. Watch over them when they leave home and when they return. Protect them at school, at work, while traveling, while playing, and everywhere they go.

Protect them from accidents, violence, danger, evil people, and harmful situations. Give them wisdom to recognize danger and courage to walk away from anything that could harm them.

I refuse to live in fear concerning my children. I trust You to watch over them.

I declare that the protecting hand of God is upon my children and that Your angels have charge over them.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 3

Pray for Their Wisdom and Decisions

James 1:5 KJV

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to give my children wisdom.

Give them wisdom beyond their natural ability. Teach them how to make decisions that honor You. Give them wisdom concerning friendships, relationships, education, careers, money, opportunities, and their future.

When they are pressured to do what is wrong, give them wisdom and courage to choose what is right.

Help them understand that every opportunity is not necessarily Your opportunity and every open door is not necessarily Your will.

Give them discernment to recognize truth from error, good from evil, and wise counsel from foolish advice.

I declare that my children are growing in wisdom and learning to make decisions according to the Word of God.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 4

Pray for Godly Friendships and Influences

Proverbs 13:20 KJV

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray over the relationships surrounding my children.

Bring godly friends into their lives-people who will encourage them to become everything You have called them to be.

Give my children discernment concerning relationships. Help them recognize people who strengthen their faith and those who would weaken their convictions.

Give them the courage to separate themselves from relationships that continually lead them away from You.

Protect them from peer pressure and the desire to compromise simply to be accepted.

Teach them that they do not have to follow the crowd. Give them confidence to stand for righteousness even when they must stand alone.

I declare that my children shall walk with the wise and become wise.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 5

Pray for Their Purpose and Future

Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You that my children were born with purpose.

I pray that they will discover the gifts, abilities, opportunities, and assignments You have placed within their lives.

Do not allow them to waste their lives trying to become someone You never called them to be.

Guide their education. Guide their career decisions. Guide their relationships. Guide their steps into the future.

Where they are confused, give them direction. Where they are discouraged, give them hope. Where they have made mistakes, give them wisdom to recover and continue moving forward.

I refuse to define their future by their present struggles or past mistakes.

I declare that my children have a God-given purpose, and by Your grace they shall fulfill the assignment You have placed upon their lives.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 6

Pray for Their Character and Lifestyle

Romans 12:2 KJV

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that my children will not be shaped by a culture that contradicts Your Word.

Renew their minds through Your Word.

Develop godly character within them. Teach them honesty, integrity, humility, compassion, discipline, responsibility, purity, forgiveness, and love.

Give them courage to say no when the world pressures them to compromise.

Help them understand that being different for Christ is not something to be ashamed of.

Guard what enters their minds through entertainment, social media, conversations, friendships, and other influences.

Transform their thinking until their choices increasingly reflect Your will.

I declare that my children will not simply follow the world-they will be transformed by the renewing of their minds.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Day 7

Pray for Their Spiritual Legacy

Psalm 112:1-2 KJV

"Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed."

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You that Your plan reaches beyond one generation.

I pray not only for my children but for the generations that will come through them.

Let my children become men and women who fear You, love You, honor Your Word, and teach the next generation to follow You.

Break destructive patterns that have traveled through previous generations. Let patterns of faith, prayer, godly marriage, faithful parenting, generosity, integrity, and obedience to Your Word become part of our family legacy.

Let my children become examples to their children.

May our family be able to say:

"As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

I declare according to Your Word that my seed shall be mighty upon the earth and the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

May our children, grandchildren, and generations yet unborn know Jesus, love His Word, walk by faith, and fulfill God's purpose for their lives.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
