2021 Reading Week 25

Day 21: James 1:12-13 TLB

Happy is the man who doesn’t give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who love him. 13 And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it.

Day 22: Matthew 26:41 TLB

Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For the spirit indeed is willing, but how weak the body is!”

Day 23: James 4:7 TLB

So give yourselves humbly to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Day 24: Galatians 5:16-17 TLB

I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to. 17 For we naturally love to do evil things that are just the opposite from the things that the Holy Spirit tells us to do; and the good things we want to do when the Spirit has his way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us, and our wishes are never free from their pressures.

Day 25: 2 Corinthians 10:3 TLB

It is true that I am an ordinary, weak human being, but I don’t use human plans and methods to win my battles.

Day 26: 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 TLB

I use God’s mighty weapons, not those made by men, to knock down the devil’s strongholds. These weapons can break down every proud argument against God and every wall that can be built to keep men from finding him. With these weapons I can capture rebels and bring them back to God and change them into men whose hearts’ desire is obedience to Christ.

Day 27: Psalm 119:11 TLB

I have thought much about your words and stored them in my heart so that they would hold me back from sin.
